Privacy notice.

Plain-English information about what personal data BuiltSocial may collect, why it is used and the choices you have.

Last updated: 30 August 2026. This notice is written for the current BuiltSocial website and enquiry process. If analytics, advertising pixels, mailing lists or other tracking tools are added later, this notice and any cookie controls should be updated before those tools are used.

Who is responsible for your information?

BuiltSocial is the trading name used by Darren Rawsterne, who is the data controller for personal information collected through this website and in connection with enquiries and services. For privacy or data-protection enquiries, including requests to exercise your data rights, email hello@builtsocial.co.uk.

What information may be collected?

When you contact BuiltSocial, this may include your name, email address, business or organisation details, social-media account information you choose to provide, the contents of your enquiry and any other information you voluntarily send.

Like most websites, hosting infrastructure may also generate technical server logs such as IP address, browser information, requested pages, dates and times. These logs are typically used for security, reliability and troubleshooting.

Why is your information used?

  • To receive, assess and respond to enquiries.
  • To discuss, quote for and provide requested services.
  • To manage an ongoing client relationship and communicate about work.
  • To operate, secure and troubleshoot the website and related systems.
  • To meet legal, accounting or regulatory obligations where applicable.

Lawful bases

Depending on the situation, BuiltSocial may process personal information because it is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, to perform a contract, to comply with a legal obligation, or because there is a legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, operating the business and keeping systems secure. Where consent is specifically required, consent will be requested.

Who may receive your information?

Information is not sold. It may be handled by service providers that are necessary to operate the business, such as website hosting, email, cloud storage, accounting or other technical suppliers. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or where necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

International transfers

Some technology providers may process information outside the United Kingdom. Where this applies, appropriate safeguards required by UK data-protection law should be used by the relevant provider or controller.

How long is information kept?

Enquiry information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, follow up and maintain appropriate business records. Client and transaction records may need to be retained for longer where required for contractual, tax, accounting or legal purposes. Data that is no longer required should be securely deleted or anonymised.

Cookies and similar technologies

The current BuiltSocial site is designed to work without non-essential advertising or analytics cookies. Essential infrastructure may still use strictly necessary storage or technical mechanisms. If non-essential analytics, advertising pixels or similar technologies are introduced, visitors should be given clear information and any consent controls required by law before those technologies are used.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights relating to your personal information, including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability and the right to withdraw consent where consent is the lawful basis.

To make a request, email hello@builtsocial.co.uk. You may also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you are unhappy with how your information is handled.

Links and social platforms

This website may link to social networks, video platforms and other third-party websites. Those services operate under their own privacy notices and BuiltSocial does not control their independent data practices.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated when the website, services or data-processing activities change. The latest version will be published on this page with an updated date.
